Welcome to HeLPP! The Herbener Lab of Psychosis & Personality is a research group in the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, led by Dr. Ellen Herbener, PhD. We investigate behavioral and functional changes associated with social cognition and psychopathology. Specifically, we examine how perception, interpretation, and processing of social information is associated with emotion and daily function in schizotypy and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. We use a variety of techniques, including behavioral assessment, self-report measures, neuropsychological testing, and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to assess behaviors and mechanisms underlying social cognition and behavior in these populations.
